Center for Health Reporting contributes to USA Today article

The California HealthCare Foundation Center for Health Reporting, which is headquartered at USC Annenberg and funded by the non-profit California HealthCare Foundation, contributed to a USA Today article about doctors finding ways to treat uninsured patients. The article stated that many people are going uninsured because of the difficult economy, which means they are not going to the doctor as regularly or spending money on needed medication. "All doctors are talking about is how more and more of the middle class is showing up uninsured in their offices," said Carol Lee, president and CEO of the California Medical Association Foundation. Doctors are giving advice over the phone so patients can avoid office visit costs and asking pharmaceutical sales representatives to increase drug samples so patients can get medications for free.
