Join USC Annenberg Dean Willow Bay and School of Journalism Director Gordon Stables for the presentation of the 2021 Selden Ring Award for Investigative Reporting to The Associated Press’ Margie Mason and Robin McDowell for their project, “Fruits of Labor.” 

Mason and McDowell will discuss their probe into the working conditions on palm oil plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia, which revealed shocking abuses against some of the world’s most vulnerable laborers — and then connected that mistreatment directly to a byproduct found in roughly half the items for sale in American supermarkets.
