Student work from Kahn's Economic Reporting class published

Student articles written as a part of Gabriel Kahn's JOUR 599: "Follow the Money: The Art and Craft of Business and Economics Reporting" were published shortly after the end of the Fall semester in the Sacramento Bee and on Marketplace.org.

Master's in Journalism student Arezou Rezvani's article titled "Double-digit unemployment? These firms can't find workers" was published on Dec. 24 in American Public Media's Marketplace Economy. Rezvani's story examined why, in a county with nearly 12 percent unemployment, many firms are struggling to expand because they can’t find qualified workers.

Paresh Dave (B.A. Print Journalism '13) wrote about California’s ongoing struggle to recruit, train and hire nurses. His story, "New California nursing graduates find it hard to get hired," was published on Dec. 4 by the Sacramento Bee.

Kaitlin Parker (M.A. Broadcast Journalism '12) reported on Casino College, where the desperate still dream of making it big in Vegas. Her article, "Earning a degree of difficulty at Casino College," was published on Marketplace.org Dec. 22.

Master's in Online Journalism student Tom Dotan wrote a Sacramento Bee article titled"Wind turbines crop up in Delta." The story examined how California’s embrace of wind power is changing the economics of ranching and farming in the state.
