Richard Reeves reviews book on President Eisenhower for LA Times

Journalism professor Richard Reeves wrote a book review of "Eisenhower: The White House Years" by Jim Newton for the Los Angeles Times. Reeves wrote that the book is a straightforward and detailed look at President Dwight D. Eisenhower's time in office, and it also provides a meaningful comparison to America and politics today. "We need this book and its insights to judge the vicious and counterproductive politics of these days," Reeves wrote. "The United States was a different country then, a confident place, and we should be thinking hard about how and why things have made us so frightened now." Reeves, whose most recent book is "Daring Young Men: The Heroism and Triumph of The Berlin Airlift-June 1948-May 1949," said Newton succeeded in his intention to focus on Eisenhower rather than his presidency. "This book is worth reading," Reeves concluded. Read the review here.
