SPJ to honor adjunct professor Don Zachary with Freedom of Information Award

The Los Angeles chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will honor adjunct journalism professor Don Zachary with its Freedom of Information Award in the spring. Zachary, who is also attorney and counsel for the Radio-Television News Association, will be one of six journalists honored. The others are ABC7 investigative producer Lisa Bartley (Television category), "Marketplace" senior business correspondent Bob Moon (Radio), LA Times staff writer Bob Pool (Print, circulation more than 90,000), L.A. Business Journal reporter Howard Fine (Print, circulation under 90,000) and The Eastsider LA founder, editor and publisher Jesus Sanchez (New Media). Zachary has 30 years of experience in entertainment and communications law in television, feature films and publishing. He practices intellectual property, transactional business and litigation and has fought for cameras in the courtroom and the news media to be able to interview jurors. LA Observed article
