This event happended on Monday, June 8, 2015  to Friday, June 26, 2015 in ASC 328.

This event is closed to the general public.

This summer Annenberg Connects, a civic engagement initiative of USC Annenberg funded by Trojan Parents John and Sharon Tesoriero, with support from the Institute of Diversity and Empowerment at Annenberg (IDEA) will present “Annenberg Today” from June 8-26 for twenty TRiO scholars participating in the 2015 session of Upward Bound at USC.

This three-week course will introduce the TRiO scholars to a greater understanding of media and journalism literacy, media and journalism practices, and essential competencies required for excellence in and out of the classroom in the 21st century. They will be introduced to Annenberg’s undergraduate programs and services and careers in media and journalism.

The TRiO scholars will engage with Annenberg faculty advancing issues of race, gender, and ethnicity in the communication and journalism communities of practice. The TRiO scholars are rising high school juniors and seniors from the South Los Angeles and Watts communities attending Manual Arts, Dorsey, Crenshaw, Jordan, and Washington Preparatory high schools. “Annenberg Today” aligns with Dean Ernest J. Wilson III’s priorities, including the development of Third Space Competencies at Annenberg.
