AIDS Quilt Touch, the digital version of the AIDS Quilt in Washington, D.C. that was previously mentioned on this blog, will be on display throughout the Capitol during the summer. Professor and USC Annenberg Innovation Lab Director Anne Balsamo and her team built a database of the 1.3 million square feet quilt that allows people to search for and view certain parts. The digital information can be viewed on the Touch Table, which will be on display in various locations, and online. According to the research team, thousands, mostly people who created panels to honor their loved ones who died from AIDS, have visited the Touch Table and were in awe after seeing it in digital form. "Some of them had not seen the panels in more than 20 years; now they are bringing their grandchildren to see them, and explaining their significance to the next generation," explained USC Annenberg researcher Ioana Literat. "There have been tears, lots of tears, but also a sense of beautiful celebration."
