The USC Annenberg Office of Communication and Marketing, led by Associate Dean for Communication and Marketing Emily Cavalcanti, has won four regional 2020 Awards of Excellence from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
The office was honored for its work in the magazine, design and video categories.
USC Annenberg Magazine received a gold award for college and university general-interest magazines (circulation more than 30,000). Chief Creative Content Officer and Editor-in-Chief Mira Zimet helmed the effort, working closely with Media and Content Strategist and Managing Editor Ted B. Kissell and Graphic Designer Suzanne Boretz.
The magazine team, which includes Cavalcanti, collaborated with Associate Dean for Development Tracy Mendoza, Executive Director of Development Ashley Cooper and Director of Alumni Relations Leticia Lozoya to produce the Spring 2019 issue, which included feature stories on politics, problem-solving in the Los Angeles community and the power of podcasting.
USC Annenberg Magazine, which is designed by the graphic design firm Pentagram and Boretz, also received a silver award for periodical design.
In the video category, “Wallis Annenberg Hall Donor Thank-You” won a silver award and “See Yourself Here” earned a bronze. The videos were produced by Zimet and Digital Media Producer Olivia Mowry.
The donor video was commissioned by the development team to mark the fifth anniversary of the building’s opening in September 2014. “See Yourself Here” was created for the admissions office to use in recruiting undergraduate students to USC Annenberg.
USC Annenberg competed in CASE’s District VII, which includes institutions in Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. CASE is a professional association founded in 1974 that serves more than 3,670 educational institutions and their advancement professionals, who work in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.
Since 2019, USC Annenberg’s Office of Communication and Marketing has earned 10 CASE Awards of Excellence at the district level.
