Why I Chose Annenberg:

While I was researching master’s programs that specialized in advanced public relations, I was intensely focused on identifying colleges and universities across the country that were multi-dimensional in nature; in essence, I was looking for a comprehensive program with a reputation of high academic standards, an array of social organizations that would stimulate intellectual and professional growth, and a well-versed and well-respected faculty. Amongst the variety of programs that I encountered during my search, I quickly came to the steadfast conclusion that none quite fit the impressionable mold that Annenberg imprinted in my mind.

As only one of two schools endowed by the famed Walter Annenberg himself, Annenberg’s commitment to providing its students with a superior education through resources of noted experts in the field, a carefully crafted course curriculum, and access to the latest innovative technology doesn’t go unrecognized. Upon the discovery that Annenberg offered everything that I was looking for and more in a graduate school climate, I immediately categorized it as my number one selection. Once I was accepted into the Strategic Public Relations program at the School of Journalism, I was ecstatic. Without a doubt, choosing Annenberg to further my education was decidedly the best decision that I have made, and one that I will always look back on with warm gratitude.

Key Takeaways:

My two-year tenure as a master’s candidate at Annenberg has proved to be a valuable asset to both my personal and my professional character. As a graduate student, I’ve been offered incredible opportunities to apply the knowledge and theories that I’ve gained in the classroom to applicable real-world situations. From designing a strategic campaign for a non-profit client and subsequently pitching that client at the conclusion of the semester, to becoming a co-community manager of an official USC website, Annenberg has provided me with a unique experience every semester to enhance and sharpen my skill set beyond the confines of four walls. Moreover, the abundance of networking capabilities within the greater Los Angeles area that I have accrued is largely due to my connections at Annenberg.

Career Aspirations:

Upon my graduation from Annenberg this spring, I would love the opportunity to work at an in-house firm within the publicity or social media sector, or at a boutique agency that specializes in crisis communications. However, as a life-long learner, my quest for career success doesn’t end after my commencement. The world of public relations is rapidly growing and changing, and as a future practitioner in the field, I plan to monitor the latest trends and tactics as the industry continues to evolve. As I’ve learned through the range of knowledge that my professors have instilled upon me during my time here, the world is my oyster, and I fully intend to pursue it armed with a valuable USC degree under my belt and the continuous support of my lifelong Trojan family.
