Annenberg Research Seminar: Network theory, network analytics and crowdsourcing in the network society

Monday, October 1, 2018

Noon 1 p.m.

USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (ASC), 207

The ubiquity of communication networks has changed how we acquire information, socialize with people, participate in politics, are entertained, purchase products, and engage in many other aspects of contemporary life. The capacity to collect and analyze massive amounts of network data has also provided unprecedented opportunities for communication studies. In this ARS talk, professors and students of the Annenberg Networks Network (ANN) invite you to consider the symbiotic relationship between network theory, network analytics, and crowdsourcing in the network society. Three empirical projects will be presented respectively focusing on the “wisdom of crowds,” the formation of online social networks and user-generated networks of tags.

Talk presented by Professors Manuel Castells and Janet Fulk, Assistant Professor Lian Jian, Annenberg doctoral students Emily Sidnam-Mauch and Yu Xu, Associate Management Scientist Matthew Sargent of the RAND Corporation, and Professor Peter Monge.

Lunch will be served. No RSVP needed.
