Tassel Registration for Commencement

For USC Annenberg’s commencement ceremony, we have chosen to incorporate Tassel (formerly MarchingOrder). This program allows graduates to provide their preferred name, phonetic pronunciation, and even an audio recording of their name as they would like it announced as they cross the stage to receive their diploma cover. 

Graduates participating in USC Annenberg’s 2025 commencement ceremony on Friday, May 16 at 9 a.m. should complete following steps to register in Tassel by the deadline of Monday, April 21 at 11:59 p.m. PT:

  • You will receive a message from commencement@ascevents.usc.edu with the subject line “ACTION REQUIRED: Register for USC Annenberg's 2025 Commencement Ceremony” to your USC email account.
  • You will be prompted to create your Tassel password.
  • Once you set your Tassel password, you will be taken to the USC Annenberg registration page, which confirms our ceremony details. Click the “Register” button.
  • Complete the registration form, which includes the following steps:
    • Ceremony Registration: Confirm whether you will participate in the ceremony.
    • Graduation Information: Confirm your preferred full name and its phonetic pronunciation to be announced at the ceremony. 
    • Record Your Name: You may opt to record your name — via phone or your device’s microphone — to provide an additional reference for our name readers to help ensure accurate pronunciation.
  • Keep in Touch after You Graduate: Share your post-grad contact info with our alumni relations team.
  • Review Your Details: Confirm that the information you have submitted is accurate and then click the “Confirm” button.
  • You will be taken to a confirmation page that verifies your registration is complete. A confirmation message will also be sent to your USC email address. 
  • You may return to the site anytime by going to the Login Page and using your USC email address. However, following the deadline of April 21, you will not be able to make any changes to the registration form.
  • From the email you receive, click the “Set Password Here” link. Note: This password link is unique to your account, do not forward to others.
  • You will be prompted to create your Tassel password.
  • Once you set your Tassel password, you will be taken to USC Annenberg Graduate Home Page, which confirms our ceremony details. Click the “Register Here” button.
  • Complete the registration form, which includes the following steps:
    • Ceremony Registration: Confirm whether you will participate in the ceremony.
    • Graduation Information: Confirm your preferred full name to be announced at the ceremony and provide the phonetic pronunciation of your name to help ensure it is read correctly on commencement day.
    • Record Your Name: You may opt to record your name — via phone or your device’s microphone — to provide an additional reference for our name readers to help ensure accurate pronunciation.
    • Keep in Touch after You Graduate: Share your post-grad contact info with our alumni relations team.
    • Click the “Submit” button once you have completed the form.
  • You will be taken to a confirmation page that verifies your registration is complete. A confirmation message will also be sent to your USC email address. 
  • You may return to the site anytime by going to the Login Page and using your USC email address. However, following the deadline on April 21, you will not be able to make any changes to the registration form.

If you do not complete registration on the site by the deadline of Monday, April 21 at 11:59 p.m. PT, your name will be read according to what we have on record.
