Tien Nguyen has been writing about food and culture for over a decade. She is the co-author of two books: the New York Times bestseller L.A. Son: My Life, My City, My Food with chef Roy Choi (Anthony Bourdain Books/Ecco, 2013) and Flavor Bombs: The Umami Ingredients That Make Taste Explode (Rux Martin Books/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2018) with restaurateur Adam Fleischman. As the former Senior Food Writer at the LA Weekly, she trekked across Los Angeles in search of the city’s best tacos and bowls of pho. Since then, her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Lucky Peach, Interview, LA Taco and Jarry, among others, and she was an inaugural fellow in the 2019 Jack Jones Literary Arts Culture, Too conference for cultural critics of color.
