Journalism professor Andrew Lih spoke with KCET-TV’s "SoCal Connected" about the newest tech devices being sold during this holiday shopping season.
“I think one of the biggest trends this year is that this is the turning point where tablets and smart phones are going to be the primary way that people get on the internet and experience content,” Lih said.
While observing “Black Friday” sales, he noted that the laptops and PCs were sort of “shoved” to the back of stores. Lih also gave high praise to Microsoft’s newest platform for their computers, tablets and phones, suggesting that it may pose a threat to “outdated” interfacing systems, such the one used in Apple products.
Another product that Lih compared to Apple is the newest Kindle from Amazon, saying that the Kindle lacked only the high quality camera of an Apple Ipad. The Amazon Kindle is also being sold at a much lower price.
“It’s just amazing what kind of choice you have now,” he said.
In addition to being an associate professor, Lih is also a new media researcher, consultant and technology author.
