Mina Yang is a pianist, author, public speaker, academic, and hypnotherapist. Yang earned a BA in art history from Brown University, an MM in piano performance from the New England Conservatory, and a PhD in musicology from Yale University. She is the author of California Polyphony: Ethnic Voices, Musical Crossroads and Planet Beethoven: Classical Music at the Turn of the Millennium (selected by the New Yorker critic Alex Ross as one of the best music books of 2014), as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters. She has given and continues to give public talks at conferences, panels, and master classes around the world.

Yang has served as faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory, University of California San Diego, USC Thornton School, and Minerva University. At Minerva University, she founded and chaired the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion faculty committee and spearheaded several DEI initiatives to review and update curriculum design and hiring practices. A resident of Los Angeles, Yang currently teaches at the Colburn School of Music Conservatory. She is also growing her hypnotherapy practice, working with performing artists and public speakers to help them overcome performance anxiety and achieve their peak performance using Rapid Transformational Therapy.
