In the US, mothers die from childbirth-related problems at a higher rate than anywhere in the developed world. More than 60% of the deaths are preventable. Nina Martin tells how ProPublica and NPR reported the groundbreaking series Lost Mothers, listening to women and discovering what even researchers didn’t know.
