Annenberg Research Seminar: The Critical Media Project rethinks the boundaries of media literacy

Monday, April 2, 2018

Noon 1 p.m.

USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (ASC), 207

In an age when calls for media and news literacy have gained traction in popular discourse, Critical Media Project offers a concrete avenue to foreground identity as a fundamental and crucial part of these efforts. CMP is a free media literacy web resource for educators and students designed to enhance young people’s critical thinking and empathy, and build on their capacities to understand and advocate for change around representations of gender, race and ethnicity, religion, age, sexuality, socio-economic class and disability.

Alison Trope is a Clinical Professor at USC Annenberg.

Lunch will be served. No RSVP needed.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC Annenberg operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other prohibited factor.
