Health Equity and Media Collaborative
At the Health Equity and Media Collaborative, we conduct community-engaged research, leveraging communication science, new media and technology to address pernicious public health challenges. We amplify the voices, expertise and innovation of African American, Latino/a and other youth of color to address health disparities and fight for health equity in communities of color. Founded in 2015 by Robin Stevens, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Communication, we believe that there should be no research about us, without us.
What we do:
- Conduct social media-based research and tap into the vast wealth of data that social media provides to gain insights into lived experiences and health behaviors
- Design and implement culturally responsive projects and interventions
- Work collaboratively with youth of color, undergraduates, graduate students, and other researchers in health-related research
- Build partnerships with local community serving organizations
