Vita Dadoo is a doctoral student at USC Annenberg researching how diasporas shape national identities — at home and abroad. Her interdisciplinary approach draws from AI, music, literature, politics, and media to examine how national worldbuilding unfolds through the aesthetics of people in movement — from cumbia dance halls in the US to consular polling stations around the globe.
Born and raised in Mexico City, Vita holds a Master's Degree in Bilingual Journalism (English/Spanish) from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY and a Bachelor’s Degree in Global Literary Theory from Davidson College. Prior to pursuing a PhD, Vita worked in the publishing industry, where she spearheaded audience development strategies at outlets such as The Atlantic, NPR, and the Financial Times. Her writing on culture, music, and the business of media has appeared in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, and NBCU, among others.
