Master’s Student

Where are you from and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?

I’m originally from South Korea and have been living in Southern California for several years. Before enrolling at USC, I worked for over a year as a laboratory assistant in an immunology lab after earning my undergraduate degree in biological sciences.

How did you learn of the degree program and why did you choose USC Annenberg?

As I began exploring a career transition into marketing and communication, fields I had long been interested in, I spent considerable time researching graduate programs. That’s when I discovered the Digital Social Media (DSM) program at USC Annenberg. Annenberg’s reputation as a top communication school immediately stood out, and the DSM curriculum felt like a perfect fit. The program’s strong focus on digital marketing, along with the flexibility to take courses in public relations, communication management, and related disciplines, ultimately drew me to USC.

What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?

One of the most meaningful parts of my experience at USC has been the Trojan Network; it truly lives up to its reputation. Professors are deeply invested in student success and actively support career development through mentorship and connections, while the school offers numerous networking opportunities that help students prepare for and secure roles after graduation. I’ve also enjoyed the academic flexibility of the program. Being able to take courses not only within Annenberg but also at other schools like Marshall has allowed me to explore my interests across disciplines and shape an education that aligns closely with my career goals.
