Imon’s research interests center around race and technology, labor, ethical AI, and surveillance. In particular, she examines the hidden human labor that supports AI technologies and data collection, with attention to how these practices can and have impacted marginalized communities. 
 
The foundation of Imon's career was built in the private sector as a product manager. Prior to joining USC, she worked as a strategist at a public safety-focused social justice nonprofit where she helped shape the organization’s programming and technology products. She holds an M.A. in media studies from Syracuse University and a B.A. in film from Howard University.
