Eugene Jang is a doctoral student at USC Annenberg, and a Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) fellow. Prior to joining USC Annenberg, she graduated from Seoul National University (SNU), receiving her BA and MA in communication. She formerly served as a research assistant at the SNU Big Data Institute and also worked for the SNU Human Ecology Research Institute where she focused on researching data brokers, surveillance culture, and privacy issues.

Her research interests include communication technology, AI-mediated communication, social networks, social support, and issues of inequalities/marginalization. She uses a mix of methods that are quantitative and qualitative for her research. Her recent work focuses on investigating how information and social support are exchanged on social media platforms through network analysis.
