Where are you from and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?

I’m from Monrovia, California, and graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2021 where I majored in communication studies and minored in journalism. I then worked at KGO-TV ABC7 as a 7 On Your Side consumer counselor, production assistant, and digital production associate.

How did you learn of the degree program and why did you choose USC Annenberg?

I learned about the degree program after I spoke with an Annenberg alum about her experience at USC. As I did my research when applying to graduate school, I began to realize just how many industry leaders attended the school. I chose USC because I knew that the opportunities I would get by studying here would help elevate me to the level of many of those that I looked up to. The Trojan network is truly made up of some of the most successful individuals within the business, and with that has come some of the most life-changing opportunities I’ve been able to be a part of during my time in this program.

What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?

What I’ve enjoyed the most about the degree program has been the abundance of support I’ve received from the professors, faculty, and staff. Not only have I had the opportunity to learn from the best of the best, but I’ve also never had a group of people who care about me achieving my goals as much as they do. From meeting with me outside of class to go over how I could improve my work, to reaching out with opportunities that align with my career aspirations, each and every person at Annenberg has contributed to the immense growth I’ve experienced as a journalist through this program. I’m incredibly grateful for their mentorship and know that these are relationships that I will carry with me into the years to come.
