11:30 a.m. 1 p.m. PT

USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (ASC), 207

Join a moderated discussion with Tom Yazdgerdi, president of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA), as he explains the organization’s history and role in advocating for and protecting the long-term institutional well-being of the professional career foreign service.

This event is designed for those interested in a career as a U.S. diplomat, particularly those concerned about supporting policies they may not always agree with. The discussion will explore the role of career Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) in shaping foreign policy, even amidst changes in presidential administrations.

This hybrid event will be preceded by a presentation and Q&A on the different pathways and application procedures for U.S. Department of State careers by USC’s Public Diplomat in Residence, Joshua Shen, and other current FSOs.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC Annenberg operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other prohibited factor.
