Since 1990, the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Courage in Journalism Awards have recognized remarkable women and nonbinary journalists who persist in reporting despite incredible odds.

Join Dean Willow Bay for a conversation with 2023 awardees Joyce Koh and Whitney Shefte of The Washington Post, whose reporting depicted — gravely and comprehensively — the human toll of the war in Ukraine on a civilian population, María Teresa Montaño Delgado, whose reporting focuses on corruption within the State of Mexico, and Yalda Moaiery, an Iranian photojournalist who has covered conflict, war and natural disasters for the past 20 years.
