Attend the next IAS Distinguished Speaker Series webinar featuring Dr. Christian Hendershot, associate professor and director of the clinical and Translational Addiction Research Program in the Department of Psychiatry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Hendershot completed his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Washington, followed by postdoctoral training at the Mind Research Network and the Center on Alcohol, Substance Use and Addictions at the University of New Mexico. Prior to joining UNC, Dr. Hendershot held a Canada research chair in the faculty of medicine at the University of Toronto, also serving as head of psychology for the addictions division at the Center for Addiction and Mental Health. Dr. Hendershot’s research utilizes clinical, cognitive, neuroscience, and psychopharmacology methods to study substance use etiology and candidate treatments for substance use disorder. His current projects include Phase II human laboratory clinical trials to investigate the efficacy of the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide as a novel treatment for alcohol and nicotine addiction.
