Michael Hammer. The Center on Public Diplomacy will host Ambassador Michael Hammer, President Biden’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, to discuss key issues related to US foreign policy towards Africa, with a particular focus on the importance of engaging African nations to promote peacebuilding, democracy and the rule of law in the Horn of Africa.
With an extensive career in the United States Foreign Service, Ambassador Hammer brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has previously served as the United States ambassador to Chile from 2014 to 2016 and the United States ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2018 to 2022.

The event will be hosted in collaboration with the U.S. Africa Institute.
