Where are you from and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?
I am an international student from China. Before I enrolled in graduate school, I finished my bachelor of art degree in Communication at Trinity University. I was also an executive producer for a school TV show called Studio 21.
How did you learn of the degree program and why did you choose USC Annenberg?
Before I applied for graduate school, I had already heard many great things about USC Annenberg. My undergraduate academic advisor once told me that USC Annenberg has the top public relations graduate program in the United States. The school has a strong network and excellent resources. The program can exercise students’ practical experience and enable students to grow rapidly in academic and professional fields. After a series of considerations, I finally chose USC Annenberg’s public relations and advertising program among many schools, and it turns out that my choice was right.
What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?
What I like most about the program is that many of the knowledge and skills I have learned can be quickly applied to my work. For example, writing public relations copywriting, analyzing social media data and creating media content are all essential skills for working in the media industry. At the same time, Annenberg students have many opportunities to join the school’s media center to learn about the creation of different media content. I am currently writing articles in ElevAsian and U.S. China Today as multimedia journalism, which allows me to keep track of trendy events while learning professional knowledge.
