Fernando Hurtado is the founder of In The Hyphen, a digital video outlet covering US Latinos. Prior to creating In The Hyphen, Hurtado was a manager of digital video for NBCUniversal, where he produced content and special projects for the NBC Owned TV Stations and the Telemundo Station Group.
Hurtado served as the supervising producer for My New Favorite Futbolista and My New Favorite Olympian, a series that one Cynopsis Sports Media Awards for best podcast series. He also hosted and produced Bísness School, a multiplatform podcast highlighting Latino entrepreneurs that won a Signal Award in the business category. Hurtado has covered three Olympics, most recently the Paris 2024 Games. In 2023, Hurtado was named Broadcasting and Cable’s LA TV Week 40 Under 40.
Prior to NBC, Hurtado was a producer/editor at ATTN: a social media video news publisher. Before that, Hurtado was a multimedia journalist at Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Circa, a now-defunct digital video news outlet. Hurtado holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast and digital journalism from USC Annenberg and lives in Los Angeles.
