USC Annenberg Dean Ernest J. Wilson III and the rest of the School's faculty and staff welcome 524 new students for the fall semester, including 26 confirmed to enroll in the first M.A. in Specialized Journalism class. The semester begins Monday, Aug. 25.
"This is an outstanding class in any way you can measure it," said Allyson Hill, assistant dean of admissions. "Our new students bring great energy and a wealth of experiences to the School, and we're delighted to have them join the Annenberg community."
The School also welcomes School of Journalism director Geneva Overholser (pictured), communication professor Susan Resnick West, and journalism professors Sasha Anawalt, who is also the director of Specialized Journalism's Arts Journalism Program, Erna Smith and Jian “Jay” Wang.
USC Annenberg held "Annenberg Round-up" (photo below right, with advisors checking in a student) on Aug. 25 to welcome the new students. They visited booths of 28 different student organizations and programs during a Western-themed Bar-B-Q designed to familiarize them with the School and its many extra-curricular activities.
The certified number of undergraduate students is 250, including 165 freshmen and 85 transfers. There are 274 confirmed-to-enroll graduate students, including 83 Communication Management, 35 Public Relations, 31 Print Journalism, 29 Global Communication, 27 Broadcast Journalism, 26 Specialized Journalism, 21 Public Diplomacy, 17 Ph.D. and five Online Journalism.
