CBS News announced the hiring of USC Annenberg alumna Priya David (M.A. broadcast journalism, '03) as a correspondent, primarily for The Early Show and the CBS Evening News weekends.
David had been a general assignment reporter at KTVU-TV in San Francisco since February 2005, where she covered the Southern California wildfires, the death of journalist Chauncey Bailey and the fallout of the Oakland police brutality scandal, as well as many environmental and technology stories. She also reported business and culture stories from Bangalore. Before that, she was a campaign embed for MSNBC covering Dick Gephardt during his run for the 2004 Democratic Presidential nomination. Prior to MSNBC, David was part of the News Associate Program at NBC with contributions to Nightly News and as a general assignment reporter for NBC's then-owned WVTM in Birmingham. She was an award-winning member of Annenberg TV News while at USC.
David was born in Chennai, India and grew up in Virginia, California, Brussels and London. Her father was with an American company that worked with NATO.
David joins at CBS other USC Annenberg alum, including: The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen (B.A. broadcast journalism, '91); New York-based CBS News correspondent Seth Doane (B.A. broadcast journalism, '00); and national correspondent for The Early Show Tracy Smith (M.A. broadcast journalism, '93).
