Seib tells AP that one unexpected event can trump years of policymaking

International media, including The Associated Press and The Guardian, interviewed professor and USC Center on Public Diplomacy Director Philip Seib in an article about the power of individuals to change the course of history.

"The drama of a singular event can supersede years of policymaking," Seib said.

Seib's research interests include the effects of news coverage on foreign policy, particularly conflict and terrorism issues. He is author or editor of numerous books, including The Al Jazeera Effect (2008); and Toward a New Public Diplomacy: Redirecting U.S. Foreign Policy (2009).
