Recent grad Lane wins Rolling Stone College Journalism Contest; featured in November issue

USC Annenberg alumna Laura Lane (B.A. broadcast journalism, '07) is featured in the November edition of Rolling Stone for winning the magazine's College Journalism Competition in the entertainment category.

"In the Entertainment Reporting category, Laura Lane was selected for her piece on Ryan Seacrest," the article states. "Lane, a recent graduate from the University of Southern California, admits Seacrest was a bit disappointed with how the piece turned out. 'He didn't like some of the things I wrote about,' Lane told Rolling Stone. 'But I was trained to write articles that are fair and balanced. And I did just that.'"

Winners in the only other two categories — essays and criticism, and feature writing — are students at Yale and Harvard.

"I write for my readers and not for anyone else," Lane said. "...I love Rolling Stone so this is a dream come true."
