"Intersections" launch party welcomes members of South LA community

More than 130 people, including Los Angeles Councilperson Jan Perry (pictured), attended the launch party for "Intersections: The South Los Angeles Reporting Project" at USC Annenberg on May 5 (Photos here).

The Intersections community news Web site features multimedia reporting by journalism students, community residents and community leaders that focuses on education, economic development, housing and immigration in local communities (find out more here).

Members of a variety of political organizations in South Los Angeles came to the launch party, including representatives from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas' office and Perry, whose ninth district encompasses a large area of South Los Angeles. Other community groups represented included the Los Angeles chapter of National Organization of Concerned Black Men, teachers from Crenshaw High School, Urban Media Foundation, and a host of other organizations and nonprofits.
