Master’s Student

Where are you from, and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?

I am from Plymouth, Minnesota. Before enrolling in graduate school, I was a full-time undergraduate student. I graduated from USC Annenberg in 2025 with a major in Communication and minors in both Cinematic Arts and Spanish.

How did you learn about the degree program, and why did you choose USC Annenberg?

I learned about the degree program through USC Annenberg’s faculty advisors because I had expressed an interest in pursuing journalism as a career. My advisor mentioned that USC Annenberg had an amazing Master’s in Journalism program that I could start pursuing while I was still getting my Bachelor’s degree. This immediately attracted me to the program because it meant that I would be able to get my Master’s degree at a more accelerated pace, so that I am able to enter the workforce sooner.

What have you enjoyed most about the degree program?

I have loved being able to explore such a diverse array of subject matter through this program. It has allowed me to understand what areas of journalism I enjoy writing about the most, and all of my professors are able to utilize some of their own personal experience in the industry to help provide insight on what these different career paths could look like. I have also loved that no matter your skill level prior to entering this program, our instructors are always available to help us learn how to use equipment so that we are always prepared for whatever assignment comes our way.
