Where are you from and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?
I’m from Whittier, California, and I graduated from California State University, Fullerton, where I studied communications with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in marketing. Originally, the plan was law school. As you can see, that was short-lived.
While studying for the LSAT, I started a jewelry business. It grew quickly. Faster than I expected. Running it showed me how powerful storytelling and advertising really are when it comes to building a brand and connecting with people.
That realization pushed me to take on something new — leading a team to create the first digital walking tour of Los Angeles City Hall through Bloomberg Connects. It confirmed what I already felt. I love shaping brand voice. I love creating experiences. And I love connecting with audiences in meaningful ways. That’s what ultimately led me to pursue graduate studies in public relations and advertising.
How did you learn of the degree program and why did you choose USC Annenberg?
I learned about the degree program through USC Annenberg’s reputation and prestige. In a time when AI is rapidly reshaping communication and advertising, I wanted to be in a program that isn’t just keeping up but setting the standard. Through my research, it became clear that USC was the best place to deepen my knowledge while continuing to grow and contribute to my community.
As an LA native, the Trojan Network was a huge factor. There’s truly nothing like it. The faculty alone sold me, and the speakers they have brought in have not disappointed. You’re surrounded by people who push you to think bigger and stay ahead of what’s next. I chose USC Annenberg not only to learn from the best, but to contribute my skills, perspective, and creative energy back to the program.
What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?
It’s more than a school. It’s a community where everyone wants everyone to win. No gatekeeping. No competition. Just collaboration. The faculty, guest speakers, and classmates challenge your thinking while cheering you on. It’s an environment that feels motivating, inclusive, and genuinely inspiring.
The program also feels current and aligned. The work reflects what’s happening in the industry, especially as AI continues to reshape how we communicate and create. You’re encouraged to think strategically, stay creative, and bring your own ideas to the table. Ideas are welcomed and, best of all, supported.
