Where are you from and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?
I was born and raised in Mumbai, India. After graduating from law school and working as an attorney for many years, I transitioned my career into marketing and communications. A few years ago, I moved to Los Angeles with my husband (who was a graduate student at USC at the time). Life at USC seemed like a world of endless possibilities and opportunities. This evoked in me a strong desire to pursue a higher education. Determined to do so, I decided to enroll in graduate school.
How did you learn of the degree program and why did you choose USC Annenberg?
Wanting to further my career in marketing and communications, I began researching graduate programs that complemented my aspirations. To my good fortune, I discovered the communication management program at USC Annenberg. What were the odds? A globally renowned program which perfectly aligned with my interests, right in my backyard! I knew this was a perfect fit and a story written by the Gods.
I chose Annenberg for many reasons. Before I began my application process, I attended all the information sessions and reached out to current students to learn more about the student experience. The more I engaged in these conversations, I understood why USC Annenberg is championed as the home of one of the leading communications programs in the world. I learned that Annenberg has a comprehensive list of classes to select from. Further, students have the flexibility to choose their electives right off the bat in the first semester, giving us the opportunity to design our academic experience in a way which best fits our career goals. As clichéd as it sounds, I fell in love with USC Annenberg and my conviction to be part of it grew stronger. Also, being a Trojan gives you bragging rights for the rest of your life!
What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?
The reason I absolutely love my experience at Annenberg is because it delivered on my expectations and much more! Right from the application process up to enrollment and even after, it has been a fun-filled journey. Even amidst difficulties during the program, I have never felt alone. Faculty and career advisors are readily available to render assistance whenever approached. Outside of the classroom, there are tons of extra-curricular activities to engage in whether that be at the Annenberg media center or the USC community at large. It has been a holistic experience. Most importantly, along the way I have made some wonderful friends, relationships, and memories which I will treasure long after I graduate.
