Where are you from and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?

I am from Orange County, California, and graduated from UCLA in 2021. Since then, I have been working full-time in local government, where I have honed my skills in storytelling and public service.

How did you learn of the degree program and why did you choose USC Annenberg?

In 2019, I received an acceptance letter from USC Annenberg to study public relations and advertising. While I decided to pursue my undergraduate studies elsewhere, I would sometimes ask myself, “What if?” As time passed, I grew passionate about these dynamic industries and realized that studying them at the graduate level would allow me to be part of a new network of leading professionals working to drive them forward. Continuing my educational journey also felt like the perfect opportunity to amplify the voices of the communities I represent — first-generation, Latine, and LGBTQ+. I chose USC Annenberg because it has consistently ranked as the foremost school for studying public relations. The school’s esteemed faculty and prime location in the media capital of Los Angeles also made the choice clear.

What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?

It has been a privilege to join the Trojan Family, and I have enjoyed being part of a welcoming and diverse environment led by industry leaders. Their expertise has allowed me to further develop my knowledge of public relations and advertising, all while providing meaningful hands-on experience. The faculty and staff also take a genuine interest in the students and are dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth. With their guidance and support, I have gained valuable insights that will have a lasting impact on my career.
