KOCCA's K-Content Showcase

Join Korean screenwriters Sang-ho Oh and Yoo-dam Shin for a conversation about the art, craft, and evolving landscape of K-drama storytelling. Moderated by professor Hye Jin Lee, Clinical Associate Professor of Communication. The discussion will explore the writers’ body of work, creative processes, and sources of inspiration, while examining what it means to write for an increasingly global audience.

As global streaming platforms have made K-dramas more widely accessible than ever, Korean television writers are creating stories that can reach audiences across different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. How does this changing media environment influence the way stories are conceive and written? What makes k-drama storytelling resonate with audiences around the world, and how are writers navigating the opportunities and challenges that come with K-drama’s growing popularity?

Through the perspectives and experiences of two accomplished screenwriters, this event will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the creative processes behind their respective works, "Taxi Driver" and "Marry My Husband," while exploring how K-drama storytelling is evolving in response to changing audiences, technologies, and an increasingly global media landscape.

Following the approximately one-hour moderated conversation, the event will open to an audience Q&A.

Sang-ho Oh is a screenwriter best known for the popular drama series, "Taxi Driver," which ran for three seasons and received the SBS Best Drama Award in 2023 and 2025. His other screenwriting credits include "The Roundup: Punishment" and "The Manipulated," a television series based on his original screenplay."

Yoo-dam Shin is a screenwriter known for "Marry My Husband," adapted from the popular web novel of the same name. Her other works include the mystery-thriller TV series, Awaken and the web drama series Go Ho’s "Starry Night."

This event takes place in conjunction with KOCCA’s industry event.
