The Institute for Outlier Research in Business Distinguished Visiting Fellows Series welcomes Kathleen Eisenhardt, Stanford W. Ascherman MD professor and co-director of the Stanford Technology Ventures Program, Stanford University.
Kathleen Eisenhardt studies strategy and organization, especially in technology-based companies and high-velocity industries. Her current research focuses on the use of heuristics and other cognitive strategies, strategic interaction in nascent markets, and novel ecosystems and strategy in two-sided marketplaces. Eisenhardt’s recent book (with Donald Sull), Simple Rules: How to Survive in a Complex World, explores how simplicity tames complexity in business, life and nature. A top-10 Wall Street Journal recommendation, Simple Rules was also named “Nerd Book of the Summer” by Bloomberg Business.
Eisenhardt has written more than 100 articles in research and business journals and was the first author featured in Harvard Business Review’s “OnPoint” collection. She has won numerous awards and was recently distinguished as the most cited research author in strategy and organization studies for the past 25 years.
The Distinguished Visiting Fellows Series is an initiative of the Institute for Outlier Research in Business. The institute is dedicated to altering traditional business thinking through research innovation.
