PEN America: Strategies and resources for defending against online harassment, session 3

Thursday, November 15, 2018

4 p.m. 6 p.m.

Wallis Annenberg Hall (ANN), 106

Join PEN America and USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism for a training session on defending against online harassment.

Writers and journalists are facing unprecedented levels of online hate and abuse. Building on PEN America’s Online Harassment Field Manual, these trainings equip writers and journalists, as well as their allies and employers, with practical tools and strategies to defend against online harassment in its many forms, from doxing and trolling to threats and hateful speech. While there are no easy answers, open conversation about the impact of online abuse and how to fight back can empower writers and journalists to continue exercising their free expression rights.

You can also attend one of our other training sessions:

  • Monday, November 12, 2 - 4 p.m., ANN 106 (session 1)
  • Wednesday, November 14, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., ANN 106 (session 2)
