USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (ASC), 207

Join USC Annenberg Career Development for a conversation with Dean Acosta, SVP and chief communications officer of Lockheed Martin.

Lockheed Martin is bringing advanced networking, leading-edge technologies and commercial tech partnerships into the aerospace and defense industry. The Fortune 50 company has deep ties to California for more than 80 years, and the state hosts the company’s legendary Skunk Works — which developed the fictional “Darkstar” hypersonic jet seen in the opening sequence of Top Gun: Maverick. Acosta will discuss the way the global comms team is telling the story of how the company is helping customers stay “ahead of ready,” from deterring national security threats, to deploying artificial intelligence to battle wildfires, to satisfying Maverick’s “need for speed.”

Acosta will also talk about how the comms team is leaning into its own digital transformation, leveraging data to improve performance and experimenting with new generative AI tools like ChatGPT.
