Since 1990, the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Courage in Journalism Awards have recognized remarkable women and nonbinary journalists who persist in reporting despite incredible odds.

Join Willow Bay, dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, for a conversation with 2025 awardee Maritza Félix, founder of Conecta Arizona, a locally-focused outlet covering immigration and social issues affecting Arizona and cross-border populations in Sonora, Mexico. IWMF executive director Elisa Lees Muñoz will also join the discussion to consider the state of press freedom and women in journalism in the U.S. and abroad.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC Annenberg operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other prohibited factor.
