In face-to-face communication, we rely on social cues to communicate with each other. When these social cues are designed into technologies, our perceptions of and reactions to technologies may vary.
Please join Kun Xu, assistant professor at the University of Florida, as he presents three theoretical frameworks about how we communicate with AI technologies (e.g., social robots, chatbots, virtual/augmented agents) through the lens of social cues. Centering on the social relationships between humans and technologies, these frameworks seek to understand how humans and technologies mutually influence each other as well as how interactions between humans and technologies construct new social norms in society.
