Conversation with alumna Dominique Fong (BA, Print Journalism, 2010) moderated by Director of Alumni Relations, Leticia Lozoya.

A common interviewing method in the tech industry involves the combination of behavioral interview questions, in which you’re asked about a specific example from your past experience, and take-home case study assignments, which are used to evaluate your critical thinking skills in a hypothetical but real-world scenario.

About Dominique Fong:

Dominique is a former journalist with nearly a decade of experience. After graduating from USC, she worked as a reporter for The Oregonian, covering local community news and breaking news, and for The Desert Sun, covering real estate and economic issues in the Coachella Valley. She then moved overseas to become a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, writing about financial markets from Hong Kong and then China’s property market and urban development from Beijing. In 2019, she traveled the world solo for half a year before returning to California to work on UX design as a content strategist at the DNA testing company, 23andMe. She loves writing short stories, running on trails all over the Bay Area, and most recently, her adopted black kitten, Pepper.
