The art of the crossfade
Wednesday, February 11, 2026
4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Tutor Campus Center (TCC), Tommy's Place
Presented by Professor Josh Kun and DJ/Producer J.PERIOD, “The Art of The Crossfade” is a multimedia exploration of the power of music to spark and cultivate connections, and a master class in how to navigate difference through the lens of a DJ. Merging academic lecture with DJ performance, “The Art of The Crossfade” traces the technical and creative origins of the crossfader (the toggle on a DJ mixer that makes musical fusion possible) and the unique skillset of a DJ—creativity, cultural fluency, critical listening, community building, historical consciousness—towards a new way of thinking about connection and difference in our lives.
