Featured in the New York Times and developed in partnership with USC Rossier School and Tony Hawk/The Skatepark Project, the research created the first national effort to study the impact skateboarding has on young people and their educational and career trajectories.

Neftalie Williams is a USC Provost’s post-doctoral scholar at USC Annenberg and Yale Schwarzman Center’s visiting scholar of Race, Sport, Community and Culture. Williams investigates global issues of race, diversity, identity, and youth empowerment through the lens of skateboarding and action sports culture to develop strategies and scholarship which create social change.
