State-of-the-art AI systems are built and deployed at the societal scale. How does one account for the looming risks and influences of such massive systems before they become ubiquitous? Centering around this inquiry, Angel Hwang will discuss ongoing work in two applied domains (the creative industry and mental healthcare) and its implications for relevant stakeholders.

Hwang is a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University’s Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, and an incoming assistant professor of communication at USC Annenberg. Her work explores human-AI interaction and its societal implications at various scales.
