Class of 2020 Placement Report

The USC Annenberg School is distinctive in the comprehensive nature of the academic programs we offer. With programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as those that are theory-based and others rooted in professional practice — along with a robust research portfolio — we are in the unique position of training our students to think critically and from a 360-degree perspective. Our students leave USC Annenberg able to recognize patterns and help their employers take advantage of new opportunities that are not always visible to those whose educational background is more traditional and singularly focused.

Each year, the office of Career Development performs a placement survey of all USC Annenberg graduates one year after graduation. The placement data that is obtained through the survey is supplemented by data from LinkedIn as well as reports submitted by faculty members, and academic advisors. Through these means, data on 90% of 2020 graduates are available*. We are pleased to report that the overall numbers are very strong: 99% of students who graduated with a BA were employed 12 months after graduation and 97% of students who graduated with a master’s degree were employed within that same timeframe.

*Data was collected on 838 students out of 926 total graduates of the Class of 2020. Information found through survey, LinkedIn, or faculty/staff update. Employment is defined as a full-time paid internship, full-time job, and enrollment in graduate school.
** This figure includes students from the Broadcast and Digital Journalism (BA) and the Print and Digital Journalism (BA), both of which were discontinued in 2016. It also includes students from the Journalism (BA), which was added in place of those two programs in 2016.
***The Strategic Public Relations (MA) has been renamed to Public Relations and Advertising (MA).
