Javier Rivera is a PhD student at USC Annenberg. His research interests include online communities, Latinx counterpublics, race/gender/sexuality in online space, cultural studies, and how media and technology change notions of Latinidad. He completed an MA in Mexican American and Latina/o studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to his MA, Rivera earned a BA in women’s and gender studies and a BS in microbiology also from the University of Texas at Austin. Rivera has teaching experience as a teaching assistant in courses that include: Introduction to Mexican American and Latina/o Studies and History of Mexican Americans in the United States at UT Austin.
