Pilaar Terry

Managing Partner, POV Agency; Broadcast Journalism (BA); Alumni Advisory Board Member

Pilaar Terry is managing partner for POV Agency, a boutique strategic communications agency that reimagines how PR and comms are done and who it’s done by to better resonate with an ever-evolving culture. She oversees Business Strategy, New Business Development, Operations and Client Management with aplomb. While at the helm of POV, Pilaar guided the business through COVID-19, growing it farther beyond her humble kitchen table than she could have ever dreamed. Her vision to build an agency powered by all types of diversity and her firm belief that representation truly matters filters through all aspects of the organization.

She has 20 years of entertainment PR and marketing experience. Her twisty-turny career path found her working at top tier global communications agencies including Edelman, FleishmanHillard, Rogers & Cowan PMK, The Marketing Arm, and United Entertainment Group. She’s worked alongside 100+ global brands including Nike Brand Jordan, AT&T, Clorox, Diageo, Universal Pictures, Capcom, Kidrobot and Watchmojo. An agency fangirl, she’s also represented bleeding edge advertising and marketing shops like Reach Agency, Cashmere Agency, Wheelhouse Labs and Rain the Growth Agency, Slash MGMT and QYOU Media.

Pilaar’s experience includes PR, corporate communications, brand strategy, strategic partnership, thought leadership and executive visibility, brand integrations, content creation and production,CRM, direct response and experiential. (Basically, you name it, she’s done it!) Despite her diverse career background, her One True Love remains communications strategy and media relations. (And yes, before you ask, she has thought of pitching the Wall Street Journal.)

A University of Southern California alum with a BA in Broadcast Journalism, she’s on the Board of Directors for Hearst Castle, a Venture Advisor for iBos Ventures and on the Alumni Advisory Board for USC’s Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.

The Bay Area native loves horror movies, Black Twitter, LEGO, books, dancing and memes. She still says ‘hella’ and her weaknesses are 90’s R&B/hip-hop and nachos. She lives in Thousand Oaks with her husband and their dog, Melvin. Who is insane.
